Shrine that is famous for welcoming cat

If you visit Imado Jinja Shrine, you can see welcoming cats in the shrine grounds.

This shrine is recognized as the birthplace of welcoming cats, while there are various views. You can see welcoming cats in Main Hall. There is also a statue of cats in front of Main Hall.

This shrine enshrines Emperor Oujin, Izanagi, Izanami and Fukurokuju. For your information, Fukurokuju of this shrine is one of 7 Deities of Good Fortune in Asakusa area.

Historically, Yoriyoshi Minamoto (988-1075) asked Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine in Kyoto for divided spirits of deity.

It has a history since 1063. It is a small shrine at residential area in Asakusa, Taito City, Tokyo. Its nearest station is Asakusa station.

For your information, Gotokuji Temple in Setagaya City, Tokyo, is also famous for welcoming cats.
