New museum that shows world of Kabuki

If you visit Kabukiza Gallery, you can see the colorful world of Kabuki according to the title of the exhibition.

It is an art gallery about Kabuki that has both tradition and renovation.

It held the seasonal exhibitions at the 5th floor of Kabukiza Tower in its initial year. "Beauty of Kabuki: Spring" (from April 24, 2014 (Wednesday) to June 30, 2013 (Sunday)), "Kabuki: Summer Color and Sound" (from July 13, 2013 (Saturday) to September 1, 2013 (Sunday)), "Kabuki: Autumn Hues" (from September 12, 2013 (Thursday) to December 1, 2013 (Sunday)), and "Kabuki from Winter to Early Spring" (from December 12, 2013 (Thursday) to March 2, 2014 (Sunday)).

At "Kabuki from Winter to Early Spring," the stage costume and tools that were actually used in theatrical performances including "Shunkyo Kagamijishi" were displayed. Also, it was great to experience the world of Kabuki, moving a basket to perform the snow scenes and beating the drums to make sounds. It was interesting to watch the digest version of Kabuki on television at the corner where the pictures of Kabukiza is put on the wall.

For information, Kabukiza Tower was also designed by Mr. Kengo Kuma (1954-Present), in addition to Nezu Museum and Suntory Museum of Art.

It opened in 2013. It is a small private art museum at commercial area in Ginza, Chuo City, Tokyo. Its nearest station is Higashi-Ginza station.
