If you visit Tokyo Station, you can see the the brick Marunouchi building.

It is a terminal railway station in the center of Japan.

The Marunouchi building of Tokyo Station is selected as Important Cultural Property of Japan. It was designed by Kingo Tatsuno (1854-1919) who engaged in architectural masterpieces including the Bank of Japan Building and Nara Hotel.

It plays a role of terminal railway station that connects with other areas in Japan. In particular, it is the terminal station of various kinds of Shinkansen including Tokaido Shinkansen, Tohoku Shinkansen and Joetsu Shinkansen. Also, it is important that people moves around Tokyo when they ride on commuter trains such as Yamanote Line, Keihin-Tohoku Line and Chuo Line. Moreover, it is the key station of long-distance buses.

It is also important from cultural and economical points of view. There are Tokyo Station Hotel, Tokyo Daimaru Department Store and Tokyo Station Gallery.

For information, it is enjoyable to see the scenery with Tokyo Station from Kitte Garden, a roof garden at the 6th floor of Kitte Marunouchi Building.
