Museum of Oriental Art that is famous for Sumitomo Collection

If you visit Sen-Oku Hakuko Kan, you can see oriental art works according to the theme of exhibitions.

It is an art museum of oriental art.  It has Sumitomo Collection. It includes art works that are selected as National Treasure of Japan and Important Cultural Property of Japan.

It is a branch museum, while the main museum is located in Kyoto. Special Exhibitions are held. Elegant art works are displayed in two exhibition rooms with a light and calm atmosphere.

"Konoshima Oukoku, Artist of Japanese-Style Painting in Kyoto" (from January 11, 2014 (Saturday) to February 16, 2014 (Sunday)) was a special exhibition. It was great to see masterpieces of Konoshima Oukoku (1877-1938) including "Kangetsu (Winter Moon)." His drawings of animals such as squirrel and peacock was also impressive in the 2nd exhibition room. It was also overwhelming to see the drawings of Japanese four seasons, "Yanagi-Sakura Zu (Pearl Bush)" in spring, "Kakitsubata Zu (Iris)" in summer, "Kikuka Zu (Chrysanthemum)" in autumn and  "Sechu-Baika (Plum in Snow)" in winter at a time in the 1st exhibition room.

It opened in 2002. It is a small private art museum at commercial area in Roppongi, Minato City, Tokyo. Its nearest station is Roppongi-Ichome station.

This museum opens from 10:00 to 17:00 (last entry: 16:30).

Closed Day
This museum is closed every Monday, change-of-exhibition period, year-end and new year holiday. In case that Monday is either a national holiday or a substitute holiday, this museum opens on Monday and closes on the following weekday.

Admissions Fee
It is 800-yen for adults and 600-yen for high school and university students. It is free for junior high school students and under.

It takes about 5 minutes from Roppongi-Ichome Station through the escalator next to Izumi Garden Tower on foot.
