Botanical garden that nature is preserved

If you visit Institute for Nature Study, you can walk around the green space.

Nature is well preserved in this botanical garden. You can forget the noise in the center of Tokyo. While the pathway and benches are arranged, this is similar to hiking courses.

It has a wide variety of trees including a great sweet acorn tree. You can also see huge powerful Orochi-no-Matsu Pine Tree and curved beautiful Monogatari-no-Matsu Pine Tree.

There are three small botanical gardens: Robo Botanical Garden, Suisei botanical garden and Musashino Botanical Garden.

This is an affiliate of National Museum of Nature and Science. It is selected as Natural Monument of Japan and Place of Historic Site of Japan.

For your information, you are suggested to wear your shoes and clothes that are suitable for hiking.

It opened in 1962. It is a large national botanical garden at residential area in Shirokanedai, Minato City, Tokyo. Its nearest station is Shirokanedai station and so on.

For your information, this botanical garden is located adjacent to Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum. Also, you can go to Hatakeyama Memorial Museum of Fine Art within a walking distance.

Opening Hour
It is different between seasons. This botanical garden opens from 9:00 to 16:30 (last entry: 16:00) between September 1st to April 30. It opens from 9:00 to 17:00 (last entry: 16:00) from May 1st to August 31st.

Closed Day
This botanical garden is closed every Monday, the following day of a national holiday, the following day of a substitute holiday. and year-end and new year holiday from December 28 to January 4. In case that Monday is either a national holiday or a substitute holiday, this botanical garden opens and closes on the following weekday. Also, in case that the following day of a national holiday is either Saturday or Sunday, it opens. Also, it temporarily opens.

Admissions Fee
It is 310-yen for adults and university students. It is free for high school students including national college of technology students and under. It is also free for those aged 65 and over. It is necessary to show the proof of age. It is free on Green day of May 4, International Museum Day of May 18, and Culture Day of November 3.

Access
It takes about 7 minutes from Shirokanedai Station on foot. We can find the entrance on the right side, walking through Platinum Street from Shirokanedai Station to the direction of Meguro Station. It is next to Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum that is closed now.
