TRY JAPAN recommends ...

1: to see "Sunflower" by Van Gogh
2: to see art works by Seiji Togo
3: to see art works by Grandma Moses

Art museum of General Art that is located in the 42nd floor at Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Headquarters Building

If you visit Seiji Togo Memorial Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Museum of Art, you can see "Sunflower" by Van Gogh (1853-1890).

Exhibitions consist of Project Exhibition corner in the 1st half and Regular Exhibition corner in the 2nd half. It is comfortable to be in a calm space.

Regular Exhibition corner is attractive. In particular, it is overwhelming that "Sunflower" by Van Gogh in the center, "Pommes et Servieete" by Cezanne (1839-1906), and "L'Allee des Alyscamp, Arles" by Gauguin (1848-1903) are displayed. It was impressive that "Sunflower" was large and powerful. It was also attractive to see "Nostalgia" and "Playing the Contrabass" by Mr. Seiji Togo (1897-1978). The masterpieces including "Sugaring Off" by Grandma Moses (1860-1961) were heart-warming. Generally speaking, art works that are displayed in regular exhibition corner changes occasionally.

Project Exhibition corner including special exhibition is also wonderful. "Sompo Japan Award Exhibition FACE 2014" (from Februrary 22, 2014 (Saturday) to March 30, 2014 (Sunday)) showed art works including "Toxic" by Mr. Yu Kawashima (1988-Present).

Also, the scenery from Tembo Gallery between the entrance and exhibition area is wonderful. It is impressive to see the eastern part of Tokyo including Tokyo Gymnasium, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and Shinjuku Station.

On September 1, 2014 (Monday), its official name became "Seiji Togo Memorial Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Museum of Art" on September 1, 2014 (Monday) due to the merger between Sompo Japan Insurance Inc. and Nipponkoa Insurance Co., Ltd.

It opened in 1976. It is a middle-sized private art museum at commercial area in Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo. Its nearest station is Shinjuku station and so on.
