Landscape garden in Shinjuku

If you visit Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, you will see beautiful flowers and trees from season to season.

You can see three kinds of gardens: French Formal Garden, English Landscape Garden, and Japanese Traditional Garden.

French Formal Garden is designed in a beautiful symmetrical form in its eastern part. You can see rose flowers and sycamore trees.

English Landscape Garden has wide open grass field in its central part. You can see three large tulip trees.

Japanese Traditional Garden has Taiwan Pavilion called "Kyu-Goryo-Tei" in its western part. You can see wisteria trellises around a pond.

There are more than 10,000 trees in this garden. In particular, there are about 180 giant trees including a Himarayan cedar around this garden.

This garden is famous for cherry blossoms. There are about 1,300 cherry trees. Its high season is in spring.

There is Green House. You can see various kinds of plants at Okinawa Corner and Ogasawara Corner.

Old Imperial Rest House called "Kyu-Gokyu-Sho" is selected as Important Cultural Property of Japan.

It opened in 1949. It is a large national garden with 58.3ha at commercial area in Shinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo.

Closed Day
This garden is closed every Monday, and year-end and new year holiday from December 29 to January 3. In case that Monday is either a national holiday or a substitute holiday, it opens on Monday and closes on the following weekday. Also, it opens on Monday from March 25 to April 24 and from November 1 to November 15.

Admissions Fee
It is 200-yen for adults aged 15 and over and 50-yen for elementary school and junior high school students. It is free on Green Day of May 4.
