The central place of rugby in Japan

If you visit The Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground, you can watch a rugby match on match days.

It is one of the central places of rugby in Japan, along with Hanazono Rugby Stadium in Higashi Osaka City.

It is used for international games of Japan national team, official games of top league among company-sponsored teams and official games of Kanto Daigaku Taikosen League among universities in Japan. It is enjoyable to watch rugby games partly due to the close distance betwen ground and seats.

At this stadium, the international rugby game between Japan national team and All Blacks of New Zealand was held in November 2013. Also, the rugby game between Waseda University and Keio University is a autumn tradition in November.

At present, teams at top league increase their quality. Panasonic Wild Knights won the championship at the play-off final in February 2014. Teams at this league has the names of the companies. Those who are related to Panasonic cheer at the top of their voices. It is the typical Japanese style of company-sponsored sports. Top players in the world belong to teams at Top League.

Rugby World Cup is to be held in 2019.

Also, it is one of the places where Jingu Firework Festival is held in summer. Performances by artists are held in this stadium.

It was established in 1947. It is a middle-sized national rugby stadium that holds 24,871 people at commercial area in Jingu Gaien, Minato City, Tokyo. Its nearest station is Gaienmae station.
