Two Observatories at Tokyo Metropolitan Building No. 1

If you visit Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building Observatories, you can enjoy the urban view of Tokyo.

There are two observatories, North Observatory and South Observatory, at the 45th floor of Tokyo Metropolitan Building No. 1. You can take special elevators from the 1st floor to the 45th floor, while the entrance for North Observatory is different from that for South Observatory.

You can enjoy 360-degree scenery from these observatories at the height of 202 meters. It is wonderful to see around urban view with a lot of buildings including skyscrapers in Shinjuku such as Shinjuku Mitsui Building and Shinjuku Sumitomo Building. Also, you can view landmarks such as Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Skytree®. Moreover, you can find green places such as Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden and Shinjuku Central Park. If the weather permits, you can see Mt. Fuji.

There are a few differences between the scenery from North Observatory and that from South Observatory, while there are a lot of similarities between these observatories. From North Observatories, you can see the whole building of Tokyo Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower in the motif of cocoon. From South Observatory, you can see around the woods of Meiji Jingu Shrine and Yoyogi Park.

It opened in 1991. It is a middle-sized public observatory of Tokyo Metropolis at commercial area in Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku City, Tokyo. Its nearest station is Tochomae-Station.
