There are 7 tombs among 15 Tokugawa Shoguns in Edo Period (1603-1867) in this temple grounds: Ietsuna Tokugawa of the 4th Shogun (1641-1680), Tsunayoshi Tokugawa of the 5th Shogun (1646-1709), Yoshimune Tokugawa of the 8th Shogun (1684-1751), Ieharu Tokugawa of the 10th Shogun (1737-1786), Ienari Tokugawa of the 11th Shogun (1773-1841), Iesada Tokugawa of the 13th Shogun (1824-1858) and Yoshinobu Tokugawa of the 15th Shogun (1837-1913). The tomb of Yoshinobu Tokugawa is located near Yanaka Cemetery apart from the tombs of 6 other Tokugawa Shoguns.

Historically, Tenkai (1536-1643) made Kaneiji Temple at the area of current Ueno Onshi Park in Edo Period. This temple shifted Konpon-Chudo Hall to the current site from Kitain Temple in Kawagoe City, Saitama prefecture in Meiji Period (1868-1912). At present, it has its components at various places around Ueno Onshi Park.

In Ueno Onshi Park, there are Old Kaneiji 5-Story Pagoda, Kiyomizu-Kannondo Hall, Shinobazu-no-Ike Bentendo Hall, Jishodo Bell Tower, Ueno Budda and so on.

Old Kaneiji 5-Story Pagoda is located at Ueno Zoological Gardens.in Ueno Onshi Park. The current pagoda was constructed in 1639.

Kiyomizu-Kannondo Hall was constructed in 1631 on a hilly area. Its motif is Kiyomizudera Temple in Kyoto Prefecture. You can see "Shinobazu-no-Ike Bentendo Hall" from the stage of Kiyomizu-Kannondo hall.

Also, you can see a replicated pine tree of the moon around this hall. Its motif is "Pine Tree of the Moon" that Hiroshige Utagawa (1797-1858) drew in "One Hundred Famous Views of Edo."

Shinobazu-no-Ike Bentendo Hall is located on the island in the center of Shinobazu-no-Ike Pond. The motif of the pond is Biwako Lake in Shiga Prefecture.

Jishodo Bell Tower is famous for haiku of Basho Matsuo (1644-1694), "Clouds of Flowers, The Sound of Bell come from Ueno, Or from Asakusa." It was constructed in 1669. Near Great Budda, you can hear the sounds of the bell at 6:00, 12:00, and 18:00 every day.

Ueno Great Budda was made in 1631. You can see the relief of the face of Budda near Jishodo Bell Tower.

In addition, there is Kaizando Hall next to Tokyo National Museum. It is called "Ryo-Taishi" because this hall enshrines two saints, Tenkai and Ryogen (912-985).

Near Kaizando Hall, there is Old Kaneiji Honbou Gate. It is a black gate.

Kiyomizu-Kannon-Do Hall, Old Kaneiji 5-Story Pagoda and Old Kaneiji Honbo Gate are selected as Important Cultural Properties of Japan.
