Shrine that is famous for plum trees

If you visit Yushima Tenjin Shrine, you can see about 300 plum trees in the shrine grounds.

This Shinto shrine is recognized as one of the best places to see plum blossoms in Tokyo. The high season is late winter to early winter. "Plum Festival" is held from early February to early March. You can see plum blossoms all around this shrine including two plum gardens. In particular, the collaboration of plum blossoms and the Main Hall is wonderful.

Also, this shrine has the monument of "Effort" by Mr. Sadaharu Oh (1940-Present) who is a baseball superstar, the monument of the birthplace of storytelling on stage, and the copper Main Torii Gate.

This shrine enshrines Amenotadikarawo-no-Mikoto, and Michizane Sugawara (845-903), the god of learning. Along with Kameido Tenjin Shrine in Koto City and Yabo Tenjin Shrine in Kunitachi City, it is recognized as one of three major Tenjin Shrines of Edo (Tokyo), while there are various views. Its official name is Yushima Tenmangu Shrine.

It has a history since 458. It is a small shrine at commercial area in Yushima, Bunkyo City, Tokyo. Its nearest station is Yushima Station.
